Adjustment #1
Well, I have had the braces for almost three months now. Things have been clicking along okay - getting used to having everything I eat get stuck in my braces. I find it much easier to floss these days - heck, I could even floss with kite strings in most places.
Today I saw my orthodontist for my first scheduled adustment. Got the wires changed to a heavier gauge to get things moving along more. I asked him how things were looking and he said that my teeth are moving along on schedule. I was hoping that since the front teeth are looking so different and my bite seems different everyday that he would say that things are ahead of schedule. Well, that was wishful thinking - I am still looking at next spring as my target time for surgery.
By the way, I still don't have final approval for my surgery. My case is in "review" with the insurance company. They have requested more information from the orthodontist and it is just taking forever. I will be able to relax a bit once I know that I am not responsible for the $60K that this surgery will cost. Also, once I have surgery approval I can get started with my quest to get insurance to pay for the braces.
After reading the sleep net forum I have begun to collect the items that I will need after my MMA. I have a good blender and an immersion blender. I am making plans to have a recliner at home during my recovery time. I am really benefitting from the other postings out there. Thank you Westernjoe, SeattleBill, Cupertinojoe, and all of the others back at the sleep forum.
